YouTube megastar MrBeast, known for his extravagant challenges and philanthropic endeavors, is facing serious allegations regarding his upcoming Amazon MGM Studios show, “Beast Games.” The show, designed as a grand-scale competition, has come under fire after contestants reported distressing experiences during a preliminary filming event.
According to a report by The New York Times, over a dozen participants from the July filming have raised concerns anonymously. The allegations paint a troubling picture of the conditions during the shoot:
- Unsafe Filming Conditions: Contestants claim they were subjected to hazardous situations, with some being carried out on stretchers. Instances of participants vomiting, fainting, and even being hospitalized were reported, indicating severe physical strain.
- Inadequate Food and Medical Care: Participants reported being provided with insufficient food, which was sporadic and did not cater to dietary restrictions or allergies. Furthermore, there were claims of delays in the distribution of necessary medications and a lack of basic necessities like clean underwear.
- Financial Compensation: Contestants, regardless of their advancement to subsequent rounds, were reportedly offered $1,000 for their participation and troubles, raising questions about the adequacy of the compensation for their experiences.
These allegations extend beyond the standard risks usually associated with reality competition shows, highlighting a potential disregard for the well-being of the participants.The preliminary round of “Beast Games” took place at Allegiant Stadium in Nevada, involving 2,000 contestants and 100 extras. The large-scale event, meant to be a showcase of MrBeast’s ambitious vision, was marred by logistical issues, including extreme weather conditions and what has been described as the “CrowdStrike incident,” a reference to unexpected disruptions.
A representative for MrBeast acknowledged the complications that arose during the shoot. They emphasized that the production team is actively reviewing the process and taking steps to address the concerns raised by the participants. Despite the backlash, MrBeast expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the unique opportunity to host what is being dubbed the “world’s largest game show.”
