Acasia Welburn, a 27-year-old woman with no fixed abode, has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty to a series of sexual offences against a teenage boy. The incidents occurred while she was working in a care position at a school in North Yorkshire. The victim, who was under 16 and autistic, showed incredible courage in speaking up.
According to North Yorkshire Police, Welburn initially made contact with the boy through social media. Their interactions escalated to sexual messages and images being shared. Eventually, they met regularly for sexual intercourse in her car and flat. The case highlights the importance of victims seeking justice and reporting such offenses1.
